Aya Tubinshlak represents clients charged with a wide variety of criminal offences including domestic assault, assault causing bodily harm, drug possession, sexual offences, impaired driving, dangerous driving and fraud. She also defends individuals charged with traffic offences, as well as those facing immediate and administrative driving prohibitions. Aya takes a personal, hands-on approach to each case, ensuring that her clients receive the full protections and freedoms guaranteed by our Charter.
Aya has represented clients at all levels of court throughout British Columbia and is also certified to practice in the Yukon on a case-by-case basis.
Aya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from Western University and a Juris Doctor from Queen’s University. During law school, she served as a legal caseworker for both the Queen’s Law Legal Aid Clinic and the UBC Law School Legal Advice Program. Aya was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2022 and practised criminal defence for two years before joining Johnson Doyle in 2024.
Aya is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC. She is in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
